ANODIC PROCESSES FOR ELECTROWINNING OF Sb FROM JAMESONITE CONCENTRATE

The anode reaction and current density of the electrowinning of Sb from jamesonite concen- trate have been investigate.High anodic current density seems to be the major reason for high energy consumption,air pollution by alkaline mists in workshop as well as poor quality of deposition.A series of steps,such as absorption,phase formation,ageing of passivated films etc.,were found to be involved during the anodic passivating process of Fe in NaOH solution. A new anodic material Fe/Ni/Co_3O_4 was developed so as to save the d.c.electric energy over 160 kWh/t of Sb.

A NEW MOLYBDENUM OXIDE PHASE

A new molybdenum oxide phase which exists in bomb combustion products of Mo was found. It has been determined that this phase is a transformed MoO_3 of triclinic system.One set of its lattice parameters was also determined from the X-ray diffraction data as α=0.4049± 0.0001 nm,b=0.5079±0.0003 nm,c=1.4339±0.0009 nm,α=115.16±0.08°,β=90.69± 0.14°,γ=105.58±0.05° and unit cell volume=0.2544 nm~3.

The stabilization of thermoelastic martensite in a rapidly solidified Cu-Zn-A1 alloy is be- lieved to be the process of disordering in atomic configuration during which the structure of martensite gradually transforms into N9R(b/a=1/3~(1/2))from M18R.This is dependent upon the intrinsic decomposition tendency of the martensite.

STABILITIY OF MARTENSITE IN Cu-Zn-Al SHAPE MEMORY ALLOY AFTER DIRECT OR STEPPED QUENCHING

The stability of thermoelastic martensite in a Cu-14.84 wt-%Zn-7.75 wt-%Al shape mem- ory alloy with M_s=106°C after direct quenching or stepped quenching has been investigated by using TEM,X-ray diffroctometer and double electric bridge instrument.The martensite aged for about 3 h at room temperature after either direct quenching or stepped quenching (150°C,2 rain)is the M18R structure.The martensite just directly quenched is not so stable, both its certain diffraction peaks and specific electric resistivity,change with aging at room temperature;whereas it is stable after stepped quenching(150°C.2 min),and its diffraction peaks and specific electric resistivity change no more with aging at room temperature.The above mentioned results seem to be explained by the martensite reordering.

SYNTHESIS OF TiAl+TiB_2 COMPOSITE AND-ITS THERMAL STABILITY

Synthesis process of a TiAl+TiB_2 composite from the elemental powders was studied by means of differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffractometry.TiB_2 particles may form in TiAl matrix at temperature even below 700℃ owing to the exothermic reactions between Ti and Al powders.TiB_2 particles are very thermally stable,and they almost did not change in their relative amount,morphology and size after the synthesized composite was remelted.In addition,the existence of TiB_2 particles has obvious refining effect in the as-cast microstructure of TiAl-base alloys.

The separating efficiency of Sb from As and Sn in jamesonite concentrate could be improved by changing the composition of leaching solution and other conditions.The related kinetic parameters of electrode reaction were evaluated under discussion on the form of complex ion AsS_3~(3-)in extract and the reduction at amalgam electrode.It was also discussed about the ef- fect of eoncentration of Na_2S and SbS_3~(3-)in solution on the current efficiency of SnS_4~(4-) reduction.

MASS TRANSFER TO LIQUID-LIQUID INTERFACE

Experiments have been done on mass transfer to a liquid-liquid interface on which inert gas bubbles are sparged.To simulate the pyrometallurgy system of melten slag-metal(or matte),aqueous solution-mercury(or zinc amalgam) system was used.The mass transfer coefficients of indicator ions as a function of bubble parameters have been determined.The experimental results show satisfactory agreement with the mass transfer model proposed Previously.

A possible mechanism of all-round shape memory behaviour hy help of a physical model pro- posed by Muller has been ascertained.The all-round shape mernory effect can be due to the fact that stress induced martensite of two different orientations is formed during the martensitic transformation in the outer and inner layers of the specimen respectively.
